The beginning of this year marks my 30th year in the classroom, all of which have been Special Education assignments. I have worked in both Illinois and California, and have had diverse classroom assignments ranging in age from primary to high school. I have also worked with students who were diagnosed with emotional disturbances for 10 years in Marin Country and learned a great deal about the symptoms and consequences of depression and other mental health related issues. I believe that these experiences allow me to respond to students who are struggling with emotional problems as well as their specific learning disabilities.
ENGLISH: Mr. Kinney
All students were asked to purchase a 1" to 1 1/2" binder for notetaking. These should be in class and ready to use on Tuesday, August 26th.
STUDY SKILLS: Mr. Kinney
All students were given a copy of the classroom's discipline plan and a letter of introduction to share with their parents and were asked to obtain a parent signature. Due by Friday, August 22nd.
Yearly: All students are expected to be using an assignment planner to record their assignments and homework in all of their classes. This planner will be checked daily in Study Skills class and a grade will be assigned to the student reflecting the completeness of their entry. Students are required to record the subject, a brief summary of the assignment, and a due date for each assignment. The purpose of the planners is to help students, parents, and myself be more aware of what the student has as assigned work. These planners will be due at the beginning of each class and are consistently checked as a part of the grade (20%).
